Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our handmade candles and wax melts

  • Yes. We currently ship within the continental United States. Orders ship via USPS, UPS, or FedEx and typically leave our studio within 5–7 business days.

You'll receive tracking once your order ships. If you don't receive an order confirmation within 7 days, email info@brooklyncatco.com.

At this time, we don't offer expedited or international shipping.

  • Because our products are handmade, candles and wax melts are final sale.

If your order arrives damaged (photo proof required), or you received the wrong or missing item, please contact us within 14 days of delivery and we'll take care of it at info@brooklyncatco.com.

  • Always trim your wick to ¼ inch before lighting. Burn for 3–4 hours at a time so the wax melts evenly to the edges and helps prevent tunneling.

Fragrance is released from the melted wax, so a full melt pool gives you the best scent throw.

  • Keep candles at least 2 feet from anything flammable and burn on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts. Never leave a candle unattended. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Do not burn longer than 4 hours at a time. Discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains.

Brooklyn Cat Collective is not responsible for damage caused by improper use.

  • Place one or more wax melts in a wax warmer (electric or tea light). Turn on or light the heat source and enjoy as the wax warms and releases fragrance.

When the scent fades, let the wax cool and harden, then remove and replace with fresh melts.

  • We use high-quality fragrance oils, not essential oils. While essential oils can be natural, many aren't safe for pets.

Our fragrance oils are phthalate-free, dye-free, vegan, cruelty-free, and skin safe.

As with any candle, burn in a well-ventilated area and keep out of reach of pets and children. Pet owners should make informed choices for their household.

  • Scent notes describe how a fragrance unfolds as it warms.

Top notes are the first impression.

Middle notes form the heart of the scent.

Base notes are deeper, longer-lasting finishes.

Together, they create a balanced, layered scent experience.

  • Brooklyn Cat Collective was founded in Brooklyn, and today we create, pour, and ship the majority of our products from our studio in Nashville, Tennessee.

Every item is thoughtfully handmade in small batches, wherever it's poured, and shipped within the continental United States. We don't currently have a physical storefront.

  • Yes—our ceramic jars are designed to be reused. To clean your jar:

    Let remaining wax cool.

Place the jar in the freezer for a few hours, then pop out the wax and remove the wick tab.

Wash with warm, soapy water and let dry.

Purrrfect as décor or as a pot for your next succulent. Great for storing treats, cotton rounds, or office supplies.
